About Us

We are Tapestry and we are a vocal group based in Kuala Lumpur comprising Malaysian singers from diverse backgrounds. What started out as friendships between people who love music and singing soon led to the formation of Tapestry in 2012. Tapestry singers perform voluntarily and the group functions on egalitarian principles where members collectively decide on its direction and vision. We perform pieces a cappella or accompanied by music from a wide range of genres including spirituals, contemporary pop, jazz, blues, gospel, music theatre and rock in conventional four-part harmonies and when we are feeling ambitious, exciting eight-part harmonies! To date, we have produced five sold-out music productions under the Tapestry brand – Christmas Tapestry (2012), Stereo & Popcorn (2013), Human After All (2014), our first Malaysian tour, The Living Room Sessions (2015), About Aisya (2016), and our fifth anniversary show, Tape5try (2017) – and performed at a growing list of interesting venues.

We believe that music not only uplifts and inspires, but also has the ability to heal and empower. It is this belief that drives us to produce shows that are of a high quality while still remaining accessible and relevant to people of all ages and backgrounds. We enjoy interacting with our audience and are committed to creating an enjoyable and memorable experience for each person. Most importantly, it is a space for us to develop young and promising Malaysian talent to become better artistes.
