Tapestry presents ABOUT AISYA, an a cappella production about the story of one girl’s triumphs, trials, hopes and dreams through the changing seasons of time in a cappella style, featuring songs by local and international artistes including P. Ramlee, Marvin Gaye, John Legend, Michael Jackson and Muse, amongst others.

We are really proud to present a brand new show for 2016. We had a whirlwind 2015 with the fun and excitement of The Living Room Sessions and after the tour ended, we had some time to sit down and work on the concept for our new show, About Aisya.

The result is our first fully a cappella staged show, in which we hope to push our creative boundaries further with a show format we had started working on in our 2014 show, Human After All, the concept music show. Moving away from the conventional format of music shows based around loose collections of songs with little if any relation to each other, we wanted to experiment with the idea of a music show crafted around a strong concept.

In About Aisya, we hope to weave scenes of Aisya’s life and relationships through the changing times with music and multimedia effects. Although it is not a play or a musical, Aisya is still very real in our imagination and her story is something we are invested in. We hope the audience will come with an open mind and find parts of themselves or maybe even more in Aisya’s story. Most of all, we hope our audience will enjoy the music and the singing because it is after all a music show.
